The police in Lagos State has arrested an 18-year-old phone thief who has been sentenced to prison seven times already in his short career. Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command was thrown into shock when they realized that an 18-year-old phone thief they arrested had been to prison seven times in two years. The suspect, Sadeeq Wasiu, according to a report by the command, has been on the wanted list of the force for several months and was arrested yet again on Tuesday, February 14, 2017.

A 27 year old mother, Orsolya-Anamaria Balogh, who tried to kill her newborn son has walked free from court despite admitting to trying to kill the baby by abandoning him in a hospital toilet cubicle trash bin. Balogh who hid her pregnancy from family and friends, gave birth to her son at a toilet cubicle at Wigan Infirmary shortly after 8.30pm on July 5, 2016, put him in a black nylon bag, pushed tissues into his mouth and dumped him in a trash bin. Balogh, of no fixed address, had pleaded guilty to attempted infanticide at an earlier hearing on October 16 last year. The court heard the "disturbed" mum had gone to Wigan Infirmary at 7.30pm complaining of nausea but denied suggestions from staff that she could be pregnant. In a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary, Habib Aruna, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Monday said that the State would require at least $30billion dollars to adequately deliver 30 most impactful infrastructural projects over the next five years. The wanted man not only duped Chinedu of the said amount, he also made the victim to lose her fiance and job with a pharmaceutical company and then fled.
