Delta police rescue 2 infants from kidnappers

ASABA—THREE weeks after they were kidnapped from their homes at Ebedei community, Ukwuani Local Government Area, Delta State, police have rescued two infants from the den of their abductors. The infants, identified as Precious Oku, 6, and Miracle Ifekam, 5, it was gathered, were said to have been declared missing after their sudden disappearance from their homes on October
23.
Sources said the children were rescued when the police in Isele-Uku Division, Aniocha North Local Government Area, of the state raided a criminal den in the area and discovered some children in a building.
The source, who sought anonymity, said the police arrested the suspected kidnappers who had claimed false parenthood to the abducted children in the compound, where the raid was carried out.
Speaking, yesterday, on the development, an indigene of Ebedei community, Mr. Chuks Otutu, said: “The children were missing and all efforts by our community to know their whereabouts proved abortive.
“On a particular day a policeman called our vigilante our Chairman, Mr. Prince Igbedi, and told him that armed robbers operated somewhere at Isele-Uku and as the police were pursuing the gang, they traced them to an uncompleted building.
“On getting there, they met four children under the care of one woman.”
