After a hard fought win over
Canada in the FIFA U-20 Women World Cup in Papua New Guinea, Nigeria’s Falconets are preparing their minds for a win over Spain to remain in contention for the title.
Goals by Chinaza Uchendu, Joy Bokiri and Chiwendu Ihezuo steered Nigeria’s U20 girls, Falconets to a 3-1 victory over the Canadians in Papua New Guinea on Wednesday. In the other group B match Spain beat high flying Japan 1-0. Spain are now on six points and have one foot in the knockout stages, while Japan – 6-0 victors against Nigeria in their opening match – will need to return to winning ways against Canada to book their place.

Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Rasheedat Ajibade was named the Live Your Goals Player of the Match against Canada.
“I am excited and grateful to God for this award,” Ajibade began.
“I am dedicating this award to my team–mates for their support and especially to coach Peter Dedevbo for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to be part of the team.”
Beaming with smiles, Ajibade noted that there is a huge difference between playing at the U20 World Cup and playing at the U17 cadre.
“The difference is very clear, the pressure in the U17 is not as strong as what I am experiencing here. It is more like the higher you go, the hotter it becomes,” she said.
